Keller Lacrosse Recruiting Info

Do you think you have what it takes to play at the collegiate level? This page is full of links and other information to help you educate yourself into the lacrosse recruiting world.

NCAA Basics

There are 54 division 1 and 30 division 2 colleges that offer lacrosse scholarships for men. There are 77 division 1 colleges and 29 division 2 colleges that offer scholarships for women.

Very few athletic scholarships are full ride like football and basketball, so called "revenue sports"; most are classed as "equivalency sports", like college lacrosse. Put simply this means that coaches can "share" their allocation between a larger number of players. That translates to "partial scholarships" in the lacrosse world, so don't expect any full rides on your abilities.

While camps and recruiting services are the new necessity in marketing yourself, players and parents should weigh those costs as you might be better off simply saving for college and paying your own way. Collegiate sports require a lifestyle committment and come with a plethora of rules and responsibilities that will restrict your academic and social experiences during your college time. Make certain your interest in the game is worth that potential tradeoff before you committ time and monetary resources in pursuit of a scholarship.

The process of finding and contacting coaches and dealing with the rules and regulations enforced by the NCAA is quite a daunting process for both athletes and parents.  Many fine young athletes are overlooked each year because they didn't submit their athletic profile to the "right" colleges or left out important information. It’s also a fact that many colleges simply don't allocate all of their lacrosse recruiting funds because "suitable" athletes didn't approach them.

The NCAA allows each division 1 lacrosse program 12.69 scholarships for men and 12 for women. In division 2 there are 10.8 scholarships for men and 9.9 for women.

As a high school lacrosse player you should be aware that the standard of NCAA college lacrosse is very high. It's recommend that you attend a few games to gauge the actual intensity of lacrosse at this level. Remember that only the absolute top lacrosse players will be approached with offers.

Most lacrosse players will have to market themselves. You can try to do this yourself or through a recruiting service.

IMPORTANT: You are not breaching any NCAA rules by using a lacrosse recruiting service to market yourself  for a lacrosse scholarship. It doesn't matter how good you are, to get recruited and be in line for NCAA lacrosse scholarships you need to tell the college coaches who you are and why you deserve to be recruited.

COACHES CANNOT EVALUATE YOUR POTENTIAL IF THEY DON’T KNOW YOU’RE OUT THERE!

“This is the ultimate resource for parents, athletes, coaches, and really anyone involved in the recruiting process. Part instruction, part inspiration, Athletes Wanted provides hope to those who want to help their children maximize their athletic scholarship and life potential.”
-Tom Lemming, Recruiting Analyst

Every year thousands of student-athletes get overlooked, not because they are not good enough, but because the right college coaches did not know about them. More than 80% of the nation’s top collegiate opportunities are outside the Division IA level, and the majority of those programs have an average recruiting budget of less than $500, helping to explain why coaches from the nation’s 1,800 colleges overlook thousands of student-athletes every year.
Athletes Wanted teaches:

  • The five critical things an athlete must know and the five critical things an athlete must do to for success.
